ECU Administrative Procedures for Grants

A Step by Step Guide

This guide discusses the administrative life cycle of a grant at East Carolina University. It covers the pre-submission processing of an application, the award process and the post-award administration of the grant. The guide focuses on university, state, and sponsor required paperwork and processing of grant applications at ECU. It also contains tips to help avoid problems. The figures in Appendix A summarize the major steps in application submission and award processing.

Application Submission

Below are the steps that you should follow when you are ready to write a grant application. The steps apply to all new and renewal grant applications and non-competitive continuation grant applications that require annual progress reports. It is assumed that you have developed a project concept, identified a potential sponsor and obtained their application forms and guidelines. If not, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) can provide assistance with these preliminary steps.
